Leads Quote Templates (Settings)
Quote Templates are used when creating a quote in the New Quote section of a Lead.
There are three different ways to create and modify quote templates; choose the one that is most appropriate for your requirements:
- Basic Quote Templates - Built in HTML Editor
- Toolkit Library Standard - basic editing of provided or uploaded templates
- Toolkit Library Advanced - advanced editing of templates
Each of the above methods are summarised in this article, with links to more detailed articles provided.
Clone Template
Any quote template can be cloned. This feature is very useful if you either need to create a new template based on an existing one, or if you want to experiment with a new template design without breaking the existing template:
Settings > Leads Settings > Quote Templates
- Press the Clone Template button
- Enter a new Template Name for the quote
- From the Based on Template field dropdown, select the template to clone
- Press the Clone button; the template is presented for editing and can be modified or saved

PDF Quote Compression
Each Quote Template can have a level of PDF Compression specified in the settings, and this compression will be applied automatically when a PDF quote is generated within a Lead.
The person generating the quote does not need to be be aware of this feature; it is automatically applied based on the Quote settings
What does Quote Compression Do?
Within a Lead, a PDF version of a Quote can be created. This is useful for emailing to a customer, and also as a permanent record of the state of a Quote at a fixed point in time. The PDF Quote can be accessed in the Lead's Related and Upload Documents field.
Quote templates can contain many pages and numerous images, which can result in a large PDF file being generated for each Quote. Depending on the layout of the Quote Template (e.g. number of pages and size of images), the resulting PDF file may vary in size from a few tens of kilobytes (very small) to several megabytes (potentially very large).
The PDF Compression option in the Quiote Template settings allows for the selection of various compression options from No Compression to Very High. The default option is Medium, which is suitable for most requirements.
If, for example, your template has many pages and numerous images, you may choose a higher level of compression, which can (depending on various factors, including the original format of images in the template), reduce the size of a resulting PDF from several megabytes to a few hundred kilobytes.

In some cases, a higher level of compression can reduce the quality of images in the resulting PDF. To aid in determining an appropriate level of compression, there is a Sample button; this will generate a sample PDF based on the Quote Template, so you can view the resulting PDF and confirm that the quality is appropriate for your requirements.
To use the least storage space in CommTrak, we recommend selecting the highest level of compression that maintains the required quality of PDF.
