News (Settings)

A News Ticker can be configured to display one or more news items in the CommTrak Information Bar, until a specified date.

When a news item is active, it is repeatedly displayed on every CommTrak user's Information Bar until the news is dismissed by the user:

News is dismissed (per user) by clicking on the X that is displayed top-right of the Information Bar. Once dismissed, the active news item(s) will not be displayed again for the user.

Accessing the News Settings

Settings > General Settings > News

Add a News Item

Press New News to add a news item.

The Add news section is displayed with the following fields:

Headline

The headline is an optional text field.

News (mandatory)

Enter the text for the news item.

Visible To (default Staff)

News items can be targeted to one of:

  • Staff (CommTrak users)
  • Portal Users (customers who have been provided with Portal access)
  • Portal Partners (only available if you CommTrak has the Partner module enabled)

Show Until

Specify the date up until when the news item will be displayed.

If no date is specified, the news item will displayed indefinitely.

Click Add to confirm the news item.

Once added, the news item will be displayed immediately (and every time) a user displays a CommTrak screen, until the user dismisses the news ticker.

Expired News Items

When the Show Until date has passed for a news item, it will automatically expire, and will no longer be displayed.

Delete a News Item

  • Select a News item from the list displayed at the top of the settings screen
  • The news item fields are displayed as read-only
  • Click Delete to permanently delete the news item, (or press Cancel to retain the news item)
