Invoice To

Invoice Redirection: Billing Partners

Overview

Invoice Redirection lets you control who gets invoiced for work and inventory tracked in CommTrak. You can bill customers and partners directly - giving you flexibility in how you manage your accounts.

When you fulfil work on behalf of a partner, CommTrak can generate invoices to them instead of your customer, streamlining your billing process.

Setting Up Invoice Redirection

Where to Use It

You can set the "Invoice To" value in:

  • Leads
  • Projects
  • Jobs
  • Tickets
  • Workflow
  • Inventory Orders

How to Redirect an Invoice

  1. Open the record you want to modify (e.g., a Job, Ticket, or Lead)
  2. Locate the Invoice To field in the Order Summary section

  1. Click the edit icon next to the Invoice To field to open the invoice redirection dialog

  1. Click the dropdown and select Another customer.

  1. Start typing the name of the customer and select the one you want to invoice from the list
  2. Review the related items shown under "Update Related" - these are records directly connected to the one you're modifying. Check or uncheck these as needed if you want to redirect them as well.
  3. Click Save to apply the change

Once saved, the work and inventory will be assigned to that company for billing purposes.

Important: Inventory Orders

Inventory items dispatched without an inventory order cannot be redirected to another company. If you're planning to bill a partner for inventory, make sure there's a purchase order in place first. This is standard practice for partner sales anyway.

Viewing Redirected Invoices

Your redirected invoices show up in two places:

Productivity Report

  • Shows work assigned to the partner  (with the original customer listed in brackets)
  • Any prepaid time to be deducted from the partner's balance

Pending to Invoice (if you use Accounts integration)

  • Redirected work appears here, ready to be invoiced

Common Scenario

Scenario 1: Partner Reseller Work

You do installation work on behalf of a partner who'll be paying you. Redirect the job's Invoice To the partner company, and CommTrak will bill them instead of your end customer.

Troubleshooting

The Invoice To field isn't displayed

  • Check that the record type supports it (Leads, Projects, Jobs, Tickets, Workflow, Inventory Orders)
  • Make sure you have permission to edit the record

I can't redirect an inventory item

  • Inventory can only be redirected if it's linked to an inventory order. Create or link an order first.
