Job Views
This article is an overview of using the Job Views feature. For configuration of Job Views, please refer to the Job Views (Settings) article.
Job Views determine which fields the currently logged-in user will see when they view a Job Screen in CommTrak.
For example, the person responsible for scheduling, the service manager and a contractor most likely need to see different information on a Job screen.
In a standard CommTrak installation there are three pre-configured Job Views:
- Default (read-only)
- Service Manager
- Technical
The Default view displays all fields, and this view cannot be modified, even by a CommTrak administrator.
The Service Manager and Technical views are provided in all CommTrak installations, as examples that may be appropriate for those roles, and these view can be renamed and customised by a CommTrak administrator as required.
Additional Views can be created as needed.
Please note that your CommTrak may have been customised by your organisation's CommTrak administrator and in addition to the Default view, you may see additional view not shown in the previous list. or you may not see any custom views.
Each user can specify their own preferred view in their preferences (see Specifying a Preferred View)
Default View per CommTrak Role
Unless otherwise configured by a CommTrak administrator, all users will see the Default view when they view a Job screen.
A CommTrak administrator can assign a view to a CommTrak role in Settings > Jobs Settings > Job View Staff Role Defaults.
Selecting a View
The user's current view is displayed in the Job details header, as highlighted in the following image:

Press the name of the current view to see a dropdown list of alternative views:

Selecting an item in the list will immediately update the screen to display the selected view.

The selection is not remembered upon returning the Job screen; the view always reverts to your preferred view (see the following heading for specifying your preferred view).
Specifying a Preferred View
If there is a view that you use frequently, you can set it as your preferred view, and that view will be displayed every time you view a Job screen.
To specify your preferred view, select:
- My Details > Preferences > Job View
- Select your preferred view from the dropdown list.
- Remember to save your preferences!
My Details is accessed by pressing the gear icon on the information bar at the top of every CommTrak screen.

If the available views do not meet your needs, views can be created or customised in Settings > Jobs Settings > Job Views.
Appropriate permissions are required to create or modify Job Views. If you cannot see this option in settings, you will need to ask your organisation's CommTrak administrator to create or configure a Job View.
