You may wish to refer to the Services & Software (SaS) Example article, which steps through the configuration and use of SaS items.

Trailing Revenue Formula Definitions

A Trailing Revenue Formula is defined by a minimum of one, and up to sixteen, rules.

Each rule is defined by a single row, presented as follows:

The available fields are:

  • From Month: the start month for this rule
  • To Month: the end month for this rule
  • Revenue:
    • $ or %: select the required option from the dropdown list
    • Value field: enter a value for the $ or % calculation

Additional rules can be added by clicking the + (plus) button adjacent to the last row in the list of rules:

Additional rules cannot be added between existing rules; they can only be added to the end of the list of rules.

When adding a row, the From Month and To Month fields are automatically populated as follows (but may be adjusted manually):

  • From Month: the previous row's To Month, incremented by one.
  • To Month: the From Month of the new row, plus the difference between the From Month and To Month fields in the previous row. i.e. the To Month of the new row is automatically configured to match the period of the previous row.

A row can be removed by clicking the adjacent - (minus) button.

If a row is removed from the middle (or top) of a list of rules (e.g. the second of three rules is removed), the From Month and To Month fields of later rows are not automatically adjusted to fill the unaccounted-for months (i.e. the gap) left by the removed row. The gap must manually be filled by adjusting the later rows. If a gap remains at the time of saving, a warning banner will be displayed, and the From Month and Two Month fields must be adjusted to ensure that all months from the first row's From Month, to the last row's To Month are accounted for.
